Hearing aids: types & technologies

Discreet, intelligent, connected: today's hearing aids have nothing in common with yesterday's. Let's find the one that fits you.

The different types

Four main families of devices

The choice depends on your degree of loss, the shape of your ear canal, your dexterity and your aesthetic preferences. At the clinic, you compare them concretely.

Behind-the-ear (BTE)

The device sits behind the ear and carries sound through a tube to an earmold. This is the most powerful and rugged family: ideal for severe to profound losses, long battery life and easy handling. Current models are slim and discreet.

Receiver-in-canal (RIC)

The receiver sits directly in the canal, connected by a nearly invisible wire. The most popular type: very discreet, natural sound, suitable for most mild to severe losses, and compatible with every technology (Bluetooth, rechargeable, AI).

In-the-ear (ITE / ITC)

Custom-made from an impression of your ear, the device sits entirely in the outer ear or canal. Nothing behind the ear: convenient with glasses and masks. Suitable for mild to moderately severe losses.

Invisible (IIC / CIC)

The most discreet of all: molded to sit deep inside the ear canal, it is practically invisible even in profile. A favourite for mild to moderate losses when discretion is the absolute priority.

Technologies

What modern hearing aids can do

Bluetooth

Your hearing aids become premium earbuds: phone calls straight into your ears, music, TV, video calls — and discreet adjustments from a mobile app.

Rechargeable

No more tiny batteries to handle: place your devices in their charger at night and they're ready for a full day when you wake. Some travel chargers hold several extra charges.

Noise reduction

Directional microphones and signal processing isolate speech from the din: restaurants, meetings and busy streets become places for conversation again, not fatigue.

Artificial intelligence

Recent chips analyze your sound environment millions of times per second and adapt settings automatically: restaurant, car, concert, quiet chat — without you touching a thing.

Water resistance

Most recent models are IP68-rated: resistant to dust, sweat and splashes. Rain or a workout session is no longer a worry.

Tinnitus-relief programs

Built-in soothing sound generators to relieve tinnitus, customizable to your needs and times of day.
